CORSETS TAKE CENTRE STAGE

Monday, 07 December 2015  |  Posted By Vollers Corsets

Don’t whisper it quietly. Shout it from the rooftops. Corsets are everywhere. Untouchable and unmentionable no more. So put out the lacy bunting and raise a glass to the fashion trend that never really went away. We’re all familiar, of course, with Madonna and the iconic new image she presented to her world back in 1990 (yes, that’s a little over a quarter of a century ago now) when she made herself as much a topic of debate as her music. The corset as art. There, in the very public eye. Collective gasps shared between fans, critics and, most of all, the happy executives at her record company. Plus a happy renaissance for the corset of course. Yet she was hardly breaking new ground in...

Thinking of buying a corset as a gift?

Thursday, 03 December 2015  |  Posted By Vollers Corsets

The sexiest piece of lingerie, the corset can provide an enviable shape and boost confidence. With this in mind, a beautiful, handcrafted corset can make a perfect gift for somebody special. Corsets have their own unique sizing, which is completely unrelated to dress or bra size.  Here at Vollers Corsets we can offer a simple way of determining which size of corset you require. Generally, an underbust corset can be easier to gift as you don’t need to know the bust size. If you’re shopping for the corset together, take a measurement of the natural waist size of the person you’d like buy a corset for. Monday, 30 November 2015  |  Posted By Vollers Corsets

In the world of fashion, trends and designs ebb and flow like the cycle of the tides. Hot one day, cold the next and forgotten by the third. Items that were once in demand and defined by the famous faces that draped themselves in them can, in the blink of a eye, go from the catwalk to the bargain bin. We’ve all seen them, read about them, worn and treasured them. And transferred them from our wardrobes into a bin liner. Or worse. Yet fashions ‘wear today and gone tomorrow’ trend is what perpetuates the industry. Keeping it virile, vigorous and strong. Red in both tooth and claw. Until tomorrow that is, when red will be so, well, last week. Because we’ll all be reading,...

Are Corsets Bad For You?

Wednesday, 18 November 2015  |  Posted By Vollers Corsets

Are Corsets Bad For You? No, in fact if worn in the right way they can be good for you and here’s why! We all know the feeling when you buy or try on the wrong size shoes and we know that wearing the wrong size shoes is painful! And will have a bad effect on your feet as well as you. They might be too tight in some places and too loose in others and not giving you the right support. It’s the same with corsetry….If you have the wrong size it could be tight in some places and then again too loose in others. If you choose the right size corset you will have something that will hug, support and give you an...

Georgina from a Fuller Figure, A Fuller Bust in a Vollers Corsets

Monday, 09 November 2015  |  Posted By Vollers Corsets

Back in 2013 we were very lucky that Georgina from a Fuller Figure, A Fuller Bust said she would be interested in doing a review/ feature about Vollers and our Paradise corset. Below is a great photo of Georgina showing off the amazing hourglass shape a Paradise corset can create. The next corset that Georgina tried by Vollers was our Essence corset which is a long overbust  that has detailing down the strappings of the corset. George wore a size 32" but after wearing the corset a couple of times she could close the back of the corset fully so if she wanted more of an hour glass shape she need to order the next smaller size down. Georgina also visited our factory in Portsmouth where we have been making corsets since 1899.  She was able...

Saturday, 31 October 2015  |  Posted By Vollers Corsets

Yes a corset can change the shape of your body, but it isn't always in the desired way. I am sure when corsets were first invented (a difficult year to define) they were intended to change the shape of your body, but with todays knowledge we are all aware of what is good and bad for us!!! Any boned corset that is cheaply made and not finished properly could cause pinching or rubbing from the bones, and generally feel uncomfortable once it is tight laced. Take the time to research real corsets that are made by an experienced team who know their product - because everybody is different, if you want a perfect fit, a fitting is often required. A corset should hug and hold...
